The start of the 2023 golf season is on the horizon and it’s an exciting time making final preparations. Golf in our eyes is about small incremental improvements which as a whole mean greater performance and enjoyment of the game. Since Nick and I have been junior golfers we have believed in this and constantly striving to improve every year. This month we met with with the Titleist team and the quest for continual performance improvement is deep rooted in their people and brand too.

Nick and I have been playing with Titleist equipment since the age of 8 and have seen the consistent development of their golfing technology. I see looking back aged 15 playing in my first televised golfing experience in the Daily Express Junior Championships at La Manga that I was wearing a Titleist visor! This look back into the scrapbook inspired us at our weekly JdV Sport team meeting to all bring in our oldest golf balls from the garage and practice bags to remind us of our early years of golf. What memories these golf balls brought to us and some of our JdV Sport family. From the old Titleist balata balls that were super soft, to Titleist PTS and the Pinnacle golf balls it sparked lots of happy memories on our golfing journeys. I noted that Nick was competing against Justin Rose in his early junior golf at exciting events such as the Prince of Wales Trophy at Woburn golf club, what an excellent event on one of the UK’s very best golfing destinations with testing treelined fairways.

We enjoyed sharing our golf ball memories so much we have decided to create a large wall display of these balls in the office to mark the development of golfing technology and our memories from them all. This golf ball evolution has also made us think of the development of the driver, the driver has a huge impact in golf and Titleist have brought out so many game changing clubs over the years. Being further down the fairway means so much better access to the flag and so much easier with a shorter iron. Nick really noticed this playing in some of the DP World Tour ProAm’s last year with complicated green complex’s the need to further down the fairway and coming in from high on your approach shots made a real difference in your chances of a realistic birdie putt. At the highest level of golf and many amateur events flags are now placed in very difficult positions, distance down the fairway is now fundamental to lower scores. Nick still talks about his Titleist 905 driver with a gaffaloy blue stiff shaft which he still has and will never sell. It was such a difference in distance at the time and made longer drives possible. This was the shaft that Henrik Stenson had in his trusty 3 wood which was so reliable from the tee or fairway. However, things have moved on and this month we are both excited to be playing with the new Titleist TSR driver.

Again, throughout this time we have visited the professional Titleist team for our fittings. These insightful fittings which can now be booked on our JdV Sport service are truly invaluable in getting the right set up. Considering the high value of these new drivers we feel that it is absolutely critical to book a 1-2-1 fitting. Titleist is now the go to choice in the world’s tour player golfers and amateur players, from the ball to the clubs the innovation and development of the equipment is truly world leading. Nick and I have both seen improvements in ball flight numbers, clubhead speed and overall performance. With the Titleist TSi driver last year being so good we were both not expecting to see much difference this year but again Titleist have delivered a driver that is truly game changing. The dispersion levels are even lower with their beautifully designed golf club, we can’t wait to put this into play in 2023.

We will be showcasing the new Titleist TSR drivers at our upcoming JdV Sport events, our first will be on the Thursday 6th April to celebrate the start of this year’s US Masters and if you can’t wait for that we would happily book you into the Titleist team for a VIP JdV Sport fitting.

To discuss a fitting or sharing your golf ball memories from over the years with us, email us here: sales@jdvsport.com or call Nick on: 079800 00771 or myself on: 07971552167. More details will be shared on our upcoming events and we look forward to seeing you on and off the fairways soon!

Happy Winter Golfing and look out for my first TSR social media post on the next sunny day!
